Some sewing progress ......

... with PICTURES!!! and actual content! how fantastic :)
My wool dress is now finished! the skirt is on andthe neck frill, all that's left is some kind of fastening for the cuffs, and seeing as I can always pin them, I say it's done! I did take some pics of the fitting for the finished bodice, before the skirt went on, but I look dreadful, so won't be posting them!
Once the dress was out of the way I treated myself to a little bit of millinery therapy :) And you can find the proof
First up, a red velevt beret type hat to go with the new dress:

The 2 fabrics look much better in person! and the gold flower is part of a necklace I pulled apart to trim my mask for the ball in Hampshire.

I only had one small bit of fabric, it wasn't long enough to make my favourite type of hat ( a strip gathered into the crown, nad the other edge gathered on to a small circle for the tip of the crown) I cut the strip in four, then stitched them together to make a big enouugh piece for the circle for the crown.

I decided it was high time I made some bonnets! a tiny scrap of velvet and and rough and ready brim pattern later ;)

Trimmed with a huge brown ostrich feather, and ribbons made from the remains of my gold striped silk from my latest 1860s ballgown.

I think the cream and browns should go with just about anything.
Once these were done I just had time to cut out the pieces for another one! A hat this time:

Brim from a cushion cover, crown from the remains of the sari I used to make Mummy's first Regency ball gown.

I think I will finish off the last hat, then move swiftly on to my new ball gown, which has had a teeny change of plan and I'm now much more excited to make it!!
