Well, I fixed my regency stuffs and was about to start work on Mummy's cap when I looked at a silly lunardi hat I made last year. the fabric crown was pleated into a hat band then just pinned to the straw brim, and the same shape in white cotton with a lace frill made the lining. I thought, 'I should try the crown on to see how the shape is for regency hats!' tried it on and it looked good, a bit small for my face, but good for mummy I thought. Then I realised the lining might do for a cap for her, she tried it on and the shape was great, but the fact it was made from a white cotton sheet made it look rather like a shower cap!!! The fabric crown looked wonderful on her though, and with a cream ostrich feather and an olivey green cocade it looks awesome with her dress! So I decided she didn't need a cap since she has a lovely hat, so I moved on to my hat. I had it cut out last night, and worked on it a bit this afternoon in the lull serving teas at the craft fair. I finished it this evening and hopefully it'll look good, it needs the curls at the side of my face to balance it out nicely, and I'm having trouble with said curls :(
I so wanted to make my spencer, but now I think tomorrow will be taken up with making a fanchon bonnet instead :p I decided to wear my pink silk dinner gown instead of my shabby cotton, and I don't have a hat that will go, so new one it is!! So far I've sewn the straw form together and it looks so cool!! I love it to pieces, I think it's going to be my new favourite :) I need to go shopping for flowers for it tomorrow.
I also need to make some under-sleeves, I never had time in the Summer, and mend the net at the neckline. I know a dinner gown isn't proper day wear, but we've had a last minute addition to the display team and she doesn't have a day dress, only a ball gown, so I thought it'd be good to be an in-between as far as flesh showing goes :) Also, I love my pink silk :p
So tomorrow I have to make hair for me, and sew Mummy's ringlets to some clips. Trim my fanchon, mend my bodice and make some under-sleeves. I think I can do it.
