some festive photos
Jan. 2nd, 2009 10:46 pmwow, long time no post! i don't know what's come over me, i don't think i've gone so long without posting in ages, i've been reading my flist, but never adding anything to yours, i'm so sorry! so now i give you some photos of things you've not seen before to make up for it!
these are from the weekend we spent in portsmouth. they were having a victorian fair at the historic dockyard, and wanted some victorians to make it look good, so a bunch of us from our dance group went for a jolly.
mummy's hood and my paletot and hood are all new. i made myself a new muff to match my hood, but it kept being stolen!

they had a snow machine, and we got some nice festive shots, and were stopped so many times for our photos!

just checking our mobile phones :p

a picture form inside the victory, nelson's flagship. it was quite an experience, walking around below decks in a crinoline, and managing the stairs was rather amusing, i'm so glad i finished my red flannel petticoat in time, it had a nice outing!

and then of course we had to have a go on the merry go round, but it was so unbelievably fast! the others only managed to get a few pics, and the video they took was dreadful!
all in all, it was fun but we won't do it again, we had to get there before 9, and they didn't open the gates till after 6, so we couldn't get the car out to go home, so we were cold and tired with no chance of escape. it was great getting to see the victory though, i imagine that ladies in the 1860s did exactly what we did, right down to being grateful for their flannel pettis!!
my christmas was a nice, simple family affair, with a silly party with our dance group on the sunday before to get us in the festive mood! but poor mummy came down with flu just before xmas eve, and collapsed at the dinner table on christmas day, she's only today been able to get up and dressed, she was downstairs most of yesterday, but in her dressing gown. and on new years eve i had been asleep 2 hours when i woke up to the puppy barking back at the fireworks!
we've got some friends coming tomorrow, the last bit of my holiday before work starts again on tuesday :(
i'm going to post a 'to do' list soon, i've been inspired by other people's! i've done no costume sewing though in aaaages, i've been making doll's clothes instead :) maybe they need a post of their own too? i think the moral of this tale is, if you leave it 4 weeks before posting, you'll bore your flist silly when you finally do post something! just think of it like buses!!!!
