I keep meaning to edit my pics from Jenny Rose's picnic so I can upload them and post, but, I haven't got round to it yet :) I also need to do the same for the pics from the ball in Scotland, maybe I'll get to it this afternoon.
I have been busy though, finally. Since we got back from Scotland I've been feeling very blah. I think I over sewed before I went away! But the day before yesterday I managed to unpack and put away everything from UTR and Scotland, and yesterday I actually started sewing again! I'm only now getting back to it, after stopping for supper last night, because I've spent the morning trying to clear space in the garage for the builders to cut a whole in the wall for a door into the garden. It's been such a pain having to open the big up-and-over car doors any time we wanted to go out the garage to get a carton of juice!
I've decided to ease myself into sewing with something fun and easy (well, it was supposed to be easy, but one always feels the need to tweak a pattern, how ever well it worked last time!) and so I'm making a little cotton summer frock, 1820s/30s style, from 4 yards of fabric a lovely friend gave me, ages ago! It started out as a pink floral print on a pale pink ground, but she accidentally dyed it mauve by washing it after washing some black fabric! It's quite a pretty colour now, and I think it will make up into a very nice frock, I'm basing it on this one from Wives and Daughters.

I took a pic of the fabric, but it hasn't turned out very well, but anyway it gives an idea of the colour and pattern :)

I'm using the pattern from my 1820s afternoon dress, but I've had to raise the neckline, and I'm in the middle of working out the front pleats / gathers. hopefully I'll have a finished mockup soon, and I'm going to try to actually post pics as I go, instead of just babbling! I'm probably going to wear this at the Victorian festival, it's not quite late enough, but who cares!

I completely forgot about that fabric. I loved it so much and it broke my heart when I dyed it by mistake. I'm glad to see it be used and not wasted. I think it will make a very pretty summer frock.
