Feeling beautiful at a demo always helps!
Aug. 6th, 2011 03:30 pmHere we go, photos from the dance demo on Wednesday! Or rather, photos from my friend's garden after the ride home from the demo ;) We were dancing outside a city centre library and museum, so it was far from picturesque, and it was so unbelievably hot that in between sets we just wanted to go inside and collapse in our air-conditioned room!! So while the others were changing before lunch, Mummy and I went outside and took some pics, and as always,

I'm so very pleased with this outfit, I felt so pretty in it, and it was super comfy!

The reason I said this dress was definitely 1875-76 is the parasol pocket! Such a crazy, short lived fashion :) I love it, it's so unbelievably silly, and I think actually helps tie in the different fabrics in the outfit. But I was super cross with myself for not getting round to finding a hanky to have artfully poking out of the top, it was so hot that I was sweating dreadfully, and it would have been so nice to have something to mop my brow with ;)

As expected, I did have to butcher the francaise petticoat for sleeve fabric! luckily, cutting them on the bias for pretty, also meant less length taken from the petti ;)
We're only going to the Victorian festival for a few days this year - a trip to the seaside, a day wandering around the town with a ball in the evening, and a day being suffragettes, with a 1920s murder mystery in the evening. So my pink plaid will get another outing very soon :)
