Poof! I'm tried! but I will say, reenacting is great fun! Last weekend was so much fun we played again this weekend :) We only went for the day this time though - the whole weekend is a bit too much for mummy these days, and we didn't have the dog booked into kennels etc, so it was just easier. Only trouble is, I think I need to make a check list for packing up! Last weekend I managed to forget both of my shifts and the ribbon to lace my pet en l'air with. It wasn't too bad though, because we were only (!) an hour away, so mummy being the wonderful human being that she is, we were able to go home and get them, along with the other things we didn't know we needed, like more blankets and an extra chair!
Today however, my forgetfulness was quite spectacular! I left my pet en l'air and my petticoat behind! I'd ironed them last night and they were hanging in my sewing room. Unfortunately the event was nearly 2 hours away, so no chance to go home for them. I did have on the rest of my undies, so it wasn't too bad, and I borrowed mummy's under petticoat, which, while it was pink striped cotton sateen, was still better than a white cotton petticoat that's supposed to be worn over hoops! She also had long sleeves on her shift, while mine are only teeny ones, so she wore my silk capelet (which I had with me because the neck band needed sewing on after I altered the fit, so I had to stitch it up quickly for her to wear, it was full of pins!), pinned to her stomacher to hide her nakedness, and I wore her short gown (overlapped instead of with a stomacher) with a borrowed apron to hide some of the pink cotton. We still had a lovely time though!!
Unfortunately, last weekend I forgot to charge my camera battery, so got no photos of the new pet en l'air. I was going to get photos today, and even remembered to charge my camera, but .... So the only photo I can share of the new outfit is this one I scrounged from facebook, with me in the background in the officer's tent:

Now, although this week I've been a terribly lazy so-and-so, I have managed to take some photos of my coscol loot! They are

Some pretty straw braid. Much nicer than taking apart a child's Easter bonnet!

Photobucket
L to R: Some very pretty (but incredibly hard to photograph!) silk taffeta, cream weft threads, with alternating cream and rust warp threads. The remains of the white silk taffeta from my new petticoat. Half a yard of peach striped silk for a muff cover.

Photobucket
Three bolt ends, L to R: Raspberry and lime silk check (the checks are in heavier thread than the ground, kind of like a dobby) Multi coloured plaid silk taffeta, no idea what I'll do with it, but it was only $5 a yd!! Brown silk taffeta with satin stripes, probably for a modern (with a hint of vintage) dress.

Photobucket
L to R: Red double knit for a modern dress, pink double knit for my birthday dress for next year, and stretch silk satin to line a jacket made from the rest of the pink double knit.

The blue striped silk on the left was already in the stash, but it matches this pale blue melton very nicely. The wool is the softest, buttery-est wool ever! It's going to be an 18thC cloak or capelet.

Last but not least, the silvery grey silk satin I bought for a sack back. I'm trimming it with self fabric ruffles and the silver braid I bought ages ago from Heritage Trading. The fabric is so cool, the reverse is a very pretty pea green taffeta, so when I've worn the dress as is a couple of times I can take the trim off and put it back on again the other way around, and then when I get really tired of it I can rip the whole dress and turn it to have a pretty pea green sack back instead :)

To keep you going while I get my act in gear ( I will post a 'what I wore' eventually!) Here's me at the Gala, I had waaaay too much fun dancing, and got rather warm ;)
