CADD strikes again, and work is icky!
Jan. 11th, 2007 01:45 pmugh, it's only the first week back and i'm already waiting for half term, only 4 more weeks! only trouble is it's also only 4 weeks till the yr 10 play ACK. i shouldn't complain though, i'm off to paris for the weekend tomorrow morning, back on tuesday, and next saturday i'm off to scotland for a week, so s'all gooood :)
i've foolishly decided that as i'm no longer making an outfit for cas i may as well make my new stays to wear for the ball (the day after we get back from scotland!) so i found some sage green drill in the stash, bought some cream twill tape and heavy thread and i'm hand sewing them! never done this before, so i'm a bit scared, but i'm sure it'll all work out ok.
only trouble is that to get the tape i had to go to dunelm, evil place full of fabric that i can use for costumes, as long as i don't mind the odd synthetic (and i don't, cos i can't afford silk...) so, you know i found the embroidered stuff for a saque back? well, clare found a lovely rust red and black shot something that we will use to make her britches and the lining of a 'prince charming' cape, the waistcoat and the cape will be made from the rolls of cream jacquard we bought, and she will be prince charming and i will be cinderella, and we will look great!
i also bought some mint green moire a while back, with a view to an 1860s ball gown, than i found the same colour in a damask/ jacquard type ON SALE and some fringe and cord and braid in EXACTLY the right colour, also all on sale, so now i'm making a green instead of a blue bustle ensemble (2 bodices, one skirt)
and i found a simple cream cotton with tiny gold dots on it that i will make a simple cotton empire line day dress form, as well as the white striped one (the same striped fabric will also be used for a sheer 1860s day dress) so i gues now i could use the blue i had for a bustle to make the 1860s ball gown... hee hee
so many projects, so little me! i can't decide which needs doing first though, the regency stuff for the jane austen festival in september that i WILL go to, or the bustle outfit, or the rest of the 1860s wardrobe for the victorian festival in august that i might not get to.... hmm, maybe i'll make some 1860s stuff, as the undies are all completely done, but then regency is so pretty and SMALL, i'tll get done quicker, but the bustle will be GORGEOUS! AAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!!
