cruddy weekend

this weekend has been very icky. the fair on saturday was very good for the village hall, we raised lots selling teas and cakes, and second hand books and on the raffle, but i only sold 3 pairs of earings and one ring, a sum total of £12! to top it all off, we had a call from granny's care home saying she had a raving urine infection and was resfusing to eat and drink so they couldn't get the antibiotics into her, so she was going to be admitted to hospital. we were going to see her yesterday anyway, for mothering sunday, but we were really worried all day and then had a terrible drive down after the fair, she was very sleepy and confused, and in a lot of pain, but what was worse was that she looked like roly when he was dying of kidney failure, granny is nearly 90, so she's worn out. when we went in yesterday she was more a awake, but in more pain, she has 2 open sores on her feet, one of which she'd had for at least 5 years, and because she's so old and her circulation is dreadful, they refuse to heal, they hurt her so much, and she gets really confused and doesn't know why they hurt. all we can do is wait and hope they can get her reydrated and the antibiotics work and she begins to start feeling better.
at least she has lots of family really near, my aunt (the sensible one in the family!) and her 2 children and their families all live really close, 15 mins away.
i've been making mummy's birthday present today, it really crept up on me, it's tomorrow! ages ago she bought some fabric and asked me to make her a nightie, she likes cotton ones with little sleeves, and you can't find them anywhere. so today i made a practice one with some fabric i found in the wardrobe at work, if she likes the shape i'll make up her fabric. i just did it like a longer version of the chemise i made for my 1860s dress, she really liked the style, it might be good, it might not :)
