the start of a good week?
May. 1st, 2007 09:28 pmwhew, i am tired! BUT i've been having a great time at work at the moment, i'm still very depressed, and work has really been getting me down lately, but i have finally found the joy in my job again, and hopefully it'll last this time :)
i work on my own most of the day, in a work room in a separate wing of the school from nearly everyone else, and i have no motivation most of the time, and get lonely and bored etc, but now i have looming deadlines and costumes i actually really want to make, so today i didn't want to come home!!
we're putting on 4 plays on the 17th with year 11, they're 15 or 16. the first play is modern, so no clothes to MAKE just find :) the next play is a noel coward style 20s farce, for which i need to make 2 flapper dresses, a rich woman and her husband's secretary (his mistress). i've designed it to be monochrome, so the secretary is at the hotel in a sexy black dress, covered in fringe, and the rich wife arrives at the hotel in a cream dress with plunging neck in back and handkerchief skirts, and a fur stole! yay, fun things to make!
the next play is a victorian melodrama, complete with heroine tied to the train track! again, i've gone for monochrome, so i've nearly finished her dress, a totally remade laura ashley dress, turned into a late victorian dress, which i'll post about in a bit! i also need to make tweed plus fours for the villain :)
the last play is a comedia del arte (sp?) play, written in the 18th century, translated recently, so i've gone for the 18th century as dreamed up by a designer dressing Hollywood movie stars in the 50s! the heroine will be in black and shocking pink, and her maid in blue and white. i can't describe their dresses, but i think you get the idea! just think huuuuge skirts, lots of net petticoats! the men will be wearing the 18th century shirts and waistcoats i made last year, with jeans :)
soooo, lots to occupy and INSPIRE me, i am a very happy megan now!!
plus, i wanna make dolls and doll's clothes now ;)
