what a wonderful holiday! but sooo exhausting :) we walked and we walked and we walked!!! but, the reason we walked so much is the shopping!!!!!!! (and yes, the best thing was a toss up between AGP and the fabric shops!!!)
we had a major hassle coming home, we left the hotel at 2pm on thursday, and got to london gatwick at 11pm on friday, finally falling into bed at 2am on saturday :( we were supposed to get in at 7am on friday! the plane had a malfunctioning warning light. so we were up in the air for 30 mins before we had to turn round and go back again, another hour waiting to land. the finally sent us to a hotel at 11pm on thursday, only to have us back again to check in at 5am friday. the check in desk was closed till 7 because the staff were stuck in traffic and the computers were broken! we finally left JFK at 10am or thereabouts :) on the pluss side though, it wasn't a night flight after all, and the film was the new harry potter wich i didn't manage to see in the cinema :)
i've spent today catching up on LJ, yesterday we slept late and went to see the new house before going to gemma's for her birthday meal. we were told we could see inside the house, but it was thr wrong key! so we will go back another day this week, i did see however, that the kitchen is fitted!!!!!
gemma is by best friend from school, we met when we were 11 and she was 25 yesterday! her boyfriend of a year and a few months is my cousin, so now she really is one of the family :) i bought her present in FAO schwartz, it was such a cool shop! we also went in the huuuge toys r us (and went on the ferris wheel!) and the disney world, and build a bear, and the littlest pet shop and the doll version of build a bear that i can't remember. so my 62 year old mother, my 26 year old sister and my 24 year old self did lots of toy shopping! for us, not for small children :p
lat night was also the first chance i had to go to a practice for the victorian ball. it was a total riot :) i think the ball will be a good old knees up, even if it isn't totally accurate :) the organiser goes to lots of victorian balls and festivals, and hopes to make it a regular thing, getting bigger and better each time, so fingers crossed! we're going again next sunday, and this time i think i'll wear my sheer dress, (yesterday i wore just my crinoline and petticoat) so i can practice with a corset too (also, so i can look pretty and show off a little bit, i'm so naughty!!!) i was amazed how much i could do in a crinoline, we started with the gay gordons, which i would never have thought of as very victorian, but never mind, and the galloping was fab! my skirts were so swooshy and swirly :p we also tried to learn the lancers, but the organiser couldn't remember it and her instructions from the interwebs were so confusing, any one know it?
http://www.ccllnorthleicslink.org.uk/events.htm is the link to the poster for the ball.
i spent today shopping for groceries and taking suitcases up stairs, not unpacking, because that would require energy :p and bringing meg down so i can dress her in undies to start on my ball gown tomorrow, i also need to get mummy to try on the dress i'm hoping she can wear, to see what i need to do to it. oh and a lot of time has been spent cuddling the puppy, she missed me, but nothing like as much as i missed her!! she's so lovely! and her fur has got all fluffy ready for winter.
