Plodding along
May. 2nd, 2009 11:15 pmWell, my dress is finished, and it's so lovely to wear! I seem to have managed to channel more of an Emma Woodhouse vibe than a Bennet sister though, I may be a little bit too fine! Especially after I've made my blue brocade hat :p
So, now I'm working on Mummy's. I did the bodice mockup yesterday, and this morning I fitted the finalised bodice and the first try at the sleeve. I'm trying to make sleeves like a dress Aunt Gardner wears, that has a long sleeve with a puff sleeve with an inverted V shape. I think I may have got it right first time! I'd managed to put the sleeve in too far round, but that seems to be all. So today I cut out the bodice, put it together and pinned the waistband and neckline casing on to check the fit - I forgot to measure the underbust at the fittings. Now they're sewn on, I just need to trim, press and sew down the neckline then I can attach the skirt, which is sewn together but not hemmed yet, and I haven't decided yet if I'm going to gather or pleat it on. Considering her dress is supposed to be the simpler style I'm finding it a long harder than mine! Maybe I'm just tired this weekend :) But at least it's a 3 day weekend!!! Admittedly Monday we're out all day, but still, hopefully knowing I don't have to work Monday will mean I'll get more done tomorrow *crosses fingers*
Also, I'm very sad at not being at CC with so many of my Flist :'(
