i'd been waiting months for them to arrive, then they came on the thursday before a doll meet on the sunday, they had no clothes, no wigs and no face-ups (face paint) and there were 4 of them! luckily clare was coming home for the weekend, so she helped me paint and made wigs while i frantically sewed their outfits!
anyway, i took a few photos at the meet (not very good ones, the lighting was very bad) and if you follow me this way,
this is a photo of Alicia (Custom House junior Yeondu) holding Sophy (CH ange Uri) i wanted to see if she could, and she did, and was pretty solid as a rock, the others there were quite impressed!
Photobucket
i was so excited about getting them to stand nicely, i forgot to make them look at me too :p
Photobucket
then the twins wanted a go, and the ever obliging Alicia held both of them!!!
Photobucket
that's Kitty (CH bisou Shushu) in blue and Minnie (CH bisou Bonbon) in purple.
i didn't want to leave them standing too long, a bit too much money in one pose! so i plonked them on the sofa, and sat Sophy with them, i think it looks like she's been naughty and isn't allowed to have a cuddle :)
Photobucket
i had so much fun that weekend, playing dollies with clare! she painted the two big girls and i did the twins, she knew i wanted Sophie to look sad, but i didn't want her to look quite so woe-begone! in the artificial lighting she looks like she's about to burst into tears!

i'm planning a photo story with them, soon as i get better, and if it's any good i'll post it here! still sick though :(

The Asian BJD's are fascinating. I'm still in the Barbie stage. I'm almost embarassed to admit that I bought a Titanic Barbie because the hairstyle was right for some historicals & the face wasn't as vapid as most of them because I heard that she was supposed to look like Kate Winslet, who I remember as having a face with character. I don't collect Barbies, so I'm going to be a heretic & carefully cut off her non-removeable dress & take her out of the collector box so that I can try out some doll sewing on her before I try the same outfits for my nieces dolls.
Actually, the type of doll I'm into are the 18th c Queen Anne types. If I ever do BJD's, I'll get someone to paint the face like a Queen Anne. Some friends are trying to get me started on them, since they aree larger & easier to work with than the 11 1/2" types.
