Poof, working at the pub is so exhausting! I don't know why, since I don't do much, well, except today of course, when I had 7 people order at once! After work I went to a friends to do some pottery ( I was useless!!) and didn't get home till about 7, when it was time to make supper, and I had a load of laundry to do, so no sewing this evening.
But I've been planning my ball gown ( in my head!) and there are some photos

I have been having nightmares about the belt!! The idea of patterning it and then binding all those points :( Anyway, I'm planning to do fewer lines of trim on the skirt, (didn't get quite enough velvet ribbon) and I want to put fringe under the bottom row of 'tags' on the skirt, to echo the fringe on the bodice. I think it's probably a round waist? but if so, I'm not sure how I will terminate the trim on the bretelles? Especially if I want it to be pretty without the belt. I've been toying with making a pointed bodice, and taking the binding on the bretelles down to become the binding on the point? Then if I run out of ... sanity I can leave off the belt and it still look good. Maybe I should give up the idea of copying the dress and just use the details I like!

I got my hem done at the pub today, so tomorrow it's cuffs and I'll be done. Then I really need to get my brain round the ball gown, although I suppose I could be doing the skirt while I procrastinate!

HA HA!! I just had a idea!! I think I'm going to turn the belt and bretelles into a fichu type thing, make a simple round wasted gown with a detachable fichu decorated with the velvet ribbon and fringe. I can go to bed now!

Totally do that! I wouldn't be surprised if they're both separate pieces on the original. It's a gorgeous design to copy, and I'm looking forward to seeing you do it justice!
