Hello all, I'm finally back from Bath, and now we have no holidays planned till the end of October! I get to go back to normal at last :D
Anyway, in all the manic event sewing I've done lately I've been very remiss with posting, especially picture posting :( SO to make up for that, here are some pictures from the Victorian Festival in Wales. I was my usual useless self when it came to picture taking, so there are not exactly many to show for the 9 days, but the best of those I did take are under here...
Clare and I getting ready to play tennis on the first day.

Clare came 3rd in the Mrs Llandod competition in this outfit. The skirt is crisp, heavy printed cotton, and the bodice is navy cotton velveteen with black buttons. The hat is the one with the bird wings I cured in the oven that I posted about a while ago.

There was a Balmoral ball during the week, great fun!

Clare's tartan skirt was paired with an evening bodice made from the same velveteen with a ruche of navy silk and black fringe and buttons. My little white frock was trimmed with tartan ribbons, and Mummy's old gold ball gown had a tartan ribbon sash.


Each morning, (and most evenings!) usually began with me, in my undies, dressing Mummy and Clare's hair!!


My gold silk ball gown skirt now has a day bodice as well as the (still untrimmed) evening bodice:

When I eventually get around to trimming my ball gown it will have the same 'tagged' velvet ribbon and fringe trimming making up a bertha type arrangement.

Clare's third new outfit was a shirt waist, with shaped yokes front and back and a bustled skirt.

The print skirt also goes with the navy velveteen bodice, but she didn't get around to wearing it during the week. In fact, all of Clare's stuff is mix and match, she also has a solid green bustle skirt, over skirt and evening bodice, and a solid green and green brocade day bodice and over skirt.

The week ended with a Grand ball, rolling out our favourite evening wear, my blue fairy dress, mummy's plaid and Clare's tails :)



So now I just have to do the same for the photos form Bath, and we're up to date! I'm going to try to be better about posting more now, but we all know how well my resolutions last ;)

And is that a wool petticoat you're wearing? I'm assuming then you had decent weather for it all :)

Thank you :) It was fun, even though, as you guessed, the weather was it's usual helpful self :) That flannel petticoat was worth it's weight in gold some days!

Thank you, it's hard to come up with ideas for trim, but this one is from a ball gown in the Kyoto book, so no imagination needed :D
