the oxford dark masquerade
Jan. 27th, 2007 09:56 pmwhew! what an evening! LOADS of photos to show you, the blue anglaise made a wonderful angel costume, once clare had made me some fabulous wings that is, and i came up with another way of wearing a mask with glasses (last years mask on a stick was annoying to carry all evening)
so....
here we have the very beginning!

i didn't manage to finish my stays cos i ran out of tape, i bought all they had! but the back is finished

this is the first time i'd worn it, and the lace wasn't long enough, so mummy lent me her shoe lace! it was much too tight at the top, (i found out later!) so i think once the gap is the same all the way down it should be great. i took 2" out of the pattern for the pink ones so it shouldn't have closed!

i curled my hair and clare pinned it up all deshabille, the mask is a peice of lace with a ribbon tie, beaded all over, and beads all over the 'hem' of the lace to make it hang nicely. i added ribbons to the side the ties do up on, and pinned 2 ostrich plumes to my head.

isn't clare amazingly clever? her wings are even more amazing, but i didn't manage to get a really good shot. but doesn't she make a really good fop?

cass looked really good as a highwayman

she's wearing the outfit i made for school, pluss a sash, hat, mask and most importantly pistol and sword! (and a sneaky hip flask!)
oh, and i forgot to tell you about our guests to the ball, for the last 2 years i haver been not making a pair of 18th century badgers, dressed for a masked ball, i remembered them in time to take to scotland to finish!

mummy took a lovely picture of us descending the stairs

towards the end i was getting rather hot an my chest hurt, so clare undid me and loosened me a bit

even in my undies i was more covered than most people there!
the climax of the entertainment was 3 stilt walking angels and an escapologist!

and a better pic of the hair, at the end of the night and having yanked the mask and feathers off in the ballroom

gosh, what a lot of pics, i expect there will be more later, when people have posted more, and Dylan the official photographer took some lovely ones.
had a great time, can't wait for next year!!!
