i'm really going to start on my ball gown tomorrow! but first i need to know what to do! i have 2 options as i see it, striped voile over blue, or plain blue,
this is my fabric

it's not real silk, just a polly something, but it looks good enough for me, and real would have been lots of money, this was only £3 per metre i think. now, i was going to make a dress from the kyoto book, and this is another view from the web

and i thought i found the perfect fabric, and even found a narrow stripe to go with it, but now i think it's a bit shiny, and it photographs terribly shiny, see?

so now i'm thinking maybe i should do a plain bodice, and if i find a pink satin make the stripy dress later? i found this lovely reference on kendra's site. i love the ribbon trim on the day gown, and will make my day bodice like it, and could either do something similar, or lots of froofy lace for a bertha on the lovely simple lines of the ball bodice.
hmmm, what to do? i can't really start on the bodice toile because i need to know what kind of waist i'm doing, the stiped dress has a round waist and the plain one has a point? i do love points....!
