the bride came round last night, sorry she forgot, and after 30 mins we had picked a pattern off the net, so now i can really get on, tomorrow i can pick the pattern up when i go to london. i can also get some cotton lawn while i'm there, to make a shift for mummy's 18th century and one for my regency outfit. we bought some fabric for an 18th century jacket and skirt for her yesterday, we were looking for stuff for her stays and they had a sale :p i'll take pics later of the fabric. i'm in london for a teddy bear, so i can get more supplies, and try not to buy any bears :)
this morning the puppy and i went for a lovely walk, but i think i tired him out! when we got back i did some cleaning then baked some yummy scrummy double (if not triple or quadruple!) chocolate chip cookies! i've spent the afternoon making jewellery and gemma and my cousin ben came round for a cuppa. so i've had a great 'me' day!

I have recently moved from the US to the UK and I have been wondering where to shop for fabric (the 8 jillion yards I already possess clearly aren't enough!). Do you have any recommendations? I live in Northamptonshire and am only about 45 minutes from London by train.
Thanks!

hello! on the hamersmith and city line to the goldhawk road tube station in shepherds bush, walk out to the road, turn right to find fabric heaven! loads of shops, they look tiny from the outside, but have loads of stuff crammed on the racks. very cheap, for the uk! from what i can gather, very expensive by us standards!
the other place in london worth a look is berwick street, in soho, lots of shops again, but very posh stuff, very expensive, you can often find the same stuff in shepherds bush for 1/4 of the price. but if you want absolutely gorgeous silks and embroidered lace and things, thi9s is the place.
it's also worth a look in your local markets, i don't know about northampton, but leicester has quite a few good stalls.
also of course try ebay!
you might also want to think about buying from the us and shipping into the uk, can work out lots cheaper, especially for silks and things.
long post, but i hope it helped :)

I have my favorite online vendors: fabric-store.com, hyena etc... but sometimes you just need to feel and see the fabric, you know? I'll definitely check out the stores in shepherds bush. Thanks!
