no better

we went to see roly yesterday, and just got back from today's visit. he's not really any better today, except he maybe seemed a bit more alert. he's very puffy, fluid retention, they're giving him 5 times the amount of fluids that he would normally drink, to try and flush out the toxins. they had hoped he would have started to improve by now, but are still hopeful, his blood test tomorrow will determine what happens, if it's better, then as long as they can get him to eat he can come home some time next week, but if the test is the same or worse then i'm going to have to let him go. we can't know until tomorrow, there's nothing anyone can do but wait, it's up to him now.
they think he's been sick since a while before his op, he was off his food, which we put down to him having escaped and decided that what he could find in rubbish bins was way better than dog food. he'd also been drinking a lot and weeing a lot, but he's always drunk lots, so it didn't seem that odd. they said he was born with kidney problems, and that they may be totally unrelated to his heart murmer, or they could be connected.
we'll have to wait and see, they're open from 8:30 till 11:30 tomorrow morning, so i should know by then.
