we took roly back to the vet yesterday, he's still not a totally happy boy, and not eating which was the real worry. we'd been in the exam room for 10 seconds when he did a HUGE puddle, his puddles have been huge lately, and he seems to have forgotten his house training, so the vet did some urine tests and it turns out he has a urine infection. this explains a lot! the lethargy, loss of appetite, and the pain he sometimes has in the mornings or when getting onto the sofa, also, obviously the peeing!
we've got him some tinned dog food which he loves, so now at last he's eating properly, and hopefully the antibiotics will work soon as well. this morning he was in pain when i first saw him, but after walking a bit and doing a wee he feels much better :)

since the last post roly has been in agony, but then better again. i sat on the floor so he could have cuddles without getting up onto the sofa, and we had nice cuddles for an hour or so. then he moved and cried so much, and he was trying to get up and sobbing because it hurt so much. we knew he had to do a wee, and once he was up he'd feel better, so we had to make him get up, and it hurt him so much. but by the time he had gotten outside he felt better, and after he did a wee he felt much better.
we rang the vet and he said that much pain is normal for a UTI, and to give him some painlkillers today, to let the antibiotics start to work. before the vet rang back i found he'd been sick again, this time not just bile but some dinner or breakfast as well, so the vet said try starving him for 24 hours, giving him his meds on an empty stomach for 24 hours won't hurt. so now we wait and see.
i'm at home today coz i couldn't face the idea of going to work and trying to do anything useful. i'm very glad because i wouldn't have been here to see him in so much pain, and come to think of it, neither would mummy, and clare would have been upstairs getting ready, so he would have been all on his own :(
i'm so worried for him, and feel so helpless because i can't do anything for him, he doesn't even want cuddles now, coz he associates that cushion and being on the floor with his tummy hurting.
and we don't know why he's being sick. the UTI has been diagnosed and is being treated, but what if there's something else wrong that's making him sick, and making him hurt, and that doing a wee only SEEMS to help but is really only a coincidence?
mummy will be home soon to talk to, when you say things out load to someone you don't feel so bad.

puppy was sick again, so mummy rang the vet to check what we shoukd do, one had said no food, the other said more food. the vet said it was probably not gastric reflux form being hungry but a tummy bug, so absolutely nothing but water. we at least have an answer now, whether it's the right one remains to be seen, hopefully they're right, and he has a UTI and a tummy bug, both of which we can clear up. if not, i can't imagine what i'll do. he has to get better soon, these swings and roundabouts are so hard. he keeps looking at me as if to say 'i've been a good boy, please stop making me hurt' and i can't. sometimes he doesn't even want cuddles.
