Sep. 30th, 2007 07:05 pmthank you so much for all your kind words.
the poor little thing, we took emmy to see him to say goodbye this morning, she'd been looking for him all over. she sniffed him and whimpered a bit, and when we left she wanted to go back in and find him. but at least now she's not looking for him, she's been very affectionate today, wanting lots of cuddles, and she's needed me to be happy and play with her, so that's helped me a lot.
harry had so much water in his lungs they were completely white in the x-ray, they should have been completely black. he was also very very cold, the vet couldn't get him warmer than 32 degrees, and he should have been 38, he was warmer than when i first got him out of the pond, so god knows how cold he was before. the vet said she thought he was probably already brain-damaged before we got him to them, because of the cold and the fact that he couldn't breathe. his eyes were, not glazed over, but totally vacant, and he staggered about like he was drunk. she also said, even if by some miracle they had been able to get the water out and get him warm again the infection from the pond water would have killed him, but it would have been a slow illness, as it was he was only ill for a few hours, and he wasn't aware of anything.
