harry at the vet
Sep. 29th, 2007 09:16 pmmy poor little boy has had to go to the vet, he tried to drown himself. emmy fell or deliberately got into the pond earlier, and she must have shown him how to do it, she was fine, just very wet, so when he fell in it was awful. they were both outside for ages, then emmy came in and went out again, then she came in again, always on her own, so i realised harry hadn't been in in ages. i went outside to hear a tiny groaning, he had obviously tried to get out and couldn't, he was lying on the moss among the rushes, soaking wet and so cold, so very cold. we put towels to warm in the oven and rubbed him dry and cuddled him under our jumpers, but he wouldn't get warm and his gums were so pale. his breathing was so laboured and he was crying. our next door neighbour came round with his stethoscope and said he sounded like he had water in his lungs, so we took him to the vet. she gave him steroids to try and clear his lungs, and antibiotics to stop the horrid pond water making him worse and something to open his airways. she's put him in an oxygen tank on a heat pad with a drip, so all we can do is wait. please keep your fingers crossed for him, poor emmy doesn't understand, she keeps looking for him.
