wool in the 18th century
Jan. 31st, 2008 10:19 pmi found nearly 5 meters of fine soft wool at school, in a lovely shade of red, like a dusky maroon. it is far too soft and drapy to use for the 1860s, and there's not enough. i've been trying to find out if it'd be suitable for a round gown, but keep finding only linen or silk. it looks like it might hang the same as linen, and i'm sure they must have worn warmer clothes, so wool must have been in their wardrobe, what do you 18th century buffs think? it'd be a nice addition to my 18th century wardrobe that i have planned :)
