shopping trips and dentists :(
Feb. 8th, 2008 10:16 pmmummy had a union meeting in london yesterday, so i went with her to do some shopping :)
i got cream and navy blue wool for a little boy's sailor suit and a kind of dark rose coloured shiny stuff for a little girl's dress. the poor children's clothes will be stuff i find in leicester market. i also needed cotton lawn for undies, mostly for mummy, but also i need a new shift for the 18th century, so i got lots and lots :)
i also have been fed up with having to buy lace by the metre, so i bought 2 cards of 13 1/2 metres of embroidery anglaise, i may not trim mummy's undies with it, because i have 25 metres of cotton lace with ribbon threaded through on it's way, and i think i want to trim her chemise drawers and flounced petticoat all the same. but the embroidery anglaise will be perfect for the rich little girl's undies and pinafore.
i also got domette for mulling hats, i'm going to make mummy a silver velvet bonnet, with purple ribbons, and i want to make myself another one too :) i haven't decided how i will trim mummy's, so i got lots of feathers and flowers and things too.
you would not believe how hard it is to find silk thread in this country :( i managed in the end though, mac culloch and wallace had some, but because it's now discontinued they only had the blue i needed. john lewis had the oyster colour i need and a yellow for my sacque, but nothing in the right colour of green, so i decided to match the other thread, it's shot green and silvery white, so i got a 'natural' colour, hopefully it'll blend in :) but they had the same (discontinued) brand, so where will i go next time?
so VERY tired yesterday! but today i had to go to the dentist again :( she hadn't finished the root canal, she did more drilling and then used a reamer to dig out the root, i think, any way, she had to use 1 and a half syringes of anaesthetic and she was pushing so hard on my jaw i had such a headache after, i went straight to bed when we got in and slept for 3 hours :p i've just baked a gorgeous lemon, lime and orange drizzle cake, we have guests for the weekend but any excuse really! if said guests are reading this... :) so i'm feeling much better now.
