my aunt who's joining us for part of the victorian festival was visiting the last couple of days, so we took the time to see how our dresses fit her... not so good since she's such a little short arse :p mummy's plaid is almost do-able, if you don't look too close at the fit :( i think she'll be a lot better dressed in it then lots of women there though to be honest! so, i decided to see if i could make her anything. i looked through everything i had in the stash and came across some fabric [livejournal.com profile] my_stitching gave me, a cotton print, green with green 'lozenges' all over it, it suited her very nicely, and i don't really need another cotton dress this year, so yesterday i made her a dress!! well, not completely, i had to fix the waist band this morning before she went, it was a bit too long in the waist in front, and i didn't have any buttons so couldn't do the button holes, and the piping at the neck needs hemming :) i never knew i had it in me! needless to say there was an early start and a late night involved :p and i was so good, i resisted kendra's site all day, except when i was having my afternoon cup of tea!
my wrapper is done except for buttons, and i forgot to get any big cover buttons today, so i can't finish it till i get some, but i got 40 buttons for the nightgowns, so i can finish them. mummy's wrapper is on my lap, i'm doing the cartridge pleats ( i feel like i've done nothing else all week!!)
i ordered some fabric from farmhouse fabrics, including the embroidered organdy for my apron, so when that gets here i'll stop 1860s for a bit and make my apron, skirt and shift. then all that's left is a cap or two and a hat if i have time, and i'm planning to do those on holiday, lots of hand sewing, since i don't really want to lug my machine up to scotland :p
oh, and last week i won this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300233219697&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020
so i'm planning to make a couple of 1830s/40s dresses now instead!
no idea how much i'll get done over the weekend, i have to work sunday morning (8:15 start!) and we have dancing, and then i have to go to bed early because i'm shopping in london on monday - thank goodness, i thought i'd never find tickets cheap enough, as it is i have to come home on the bus, a 3 hour journey! i'm hoping i'll find the ribbons and lace i need to trim our dresses, and of course i'll have to look at fabric too!
