a change of era
Jul. 3rd, 2008 10:09 pmmy farmhouse fabrics order came yesterday while i was at work, so today i went back in time 100 years, put away my 1860s stuff for a while and went back to my CC wardrobe.
i started with my new shift, it is very plain, no frills nor nothin, and works really well under my print jacket. i just need to hand sew the cuffs and neck binding, but i'll probably leave that till i go away, or maybe i'll take it to work on over lunch during the workshop (ick, horrid thing!)
then i made a petticoat that will work with the bum roll as opposed to the pocket hoops. i made sure it would be a good shape to wear under aunty jac's dress (it'll just need a tuck i think) so she can wear it during the victorian festival, and i'll probably use it as one of my pettis for my 1830s dresses, i like things that do double duty, my new shift should be perfect for regency, and i'll use it for my 1830s stuff too i think!
i was hoping to get my cream taffeta skirt made today too, but i'm bad and i kept procrastinating :( i'm at the primary school tomorrow, not cooking this time, but doing some drama with my boss from the secondary school i work at. that's the morning gone, and i need to get some more piping cord, so i might go into town in the afternoon, but hopefully i'll at least get the side seams done and get it pleated to the waist band. i haven't decided how to hem it yet though, hand or machine? i'll decide tomorrow i think :)
to all you americans, have a good day tomorrow!
