A non sewing week
Oct. 9th, 2009 01:31 pmWell, I've been feeling better, but still not able to get to sleep until silly o'clock in the morning, so I'm still VERY tired! I've been spending my days napping and house cleaning! I've been like a whirling dervish putting things away that haven't had a proper home since we moved, nearly 2 years ago! It feels so uplifting to have a spic and span tidy house that you can actually move in without falling over piles of things with no where to go!
The main reason I think I've done so much sorting and tidying is because my sewing machine had to go for a service, I've been putting it off nearly all year, but finally decided to bite the bullet and let it go for a whole WEEK! I just need to wait till my Mother has a chance to get into Nottingham to pick it up. As soon as it gets here I will work on a modesty panel for the back of the bodice I want to wear to the Halloween Ball. I'm going to go as Autumn in the 17th Century-ish outfit I made for the first ever masked ball I went to many years ago. It's a brown velvet boned bodice with a darker brown silk skirt, and a wire-work stomacher covered in golden brown stones and pearls, with a matching mask and little crown. I'm going to try and gather some autumn coloured leaves as well before they all go brown, to put in my hair. Since being on the low fat diet for my gallstones the bodice fits me again! Unfortunately the same cannot be said for most of my work clothes, so another job for my sewing machine will be altering the waists of all my trousers and skirts :(
