So much fun!!
Aug. 9th, 2012 05:23 pmI finally got home from CosCol last night at around 8pm, after leaving the hotel at 5pm the day before! Needless to say, I slept in the car all the way home, then went to bed early and slept right through till 10:30am :) I still feel tired, but I've unpacked, done a load of washing (needed shifts and stockings and things for the weekend!!) and got everything out ready for reenacting at Keddleston over the weekend!
So today and tomorrow, apart from napping, will be mostly spent finishing re-fitting my pet en l'air. The reenactment is 1740s-50s, and I don't have anything that early except the pale green pet en l'air I made 4 years ago, which never really fit right and now is worse than ever! The shoulders were much too wide and kept slipping off, the sleeves were too tight, and the pleats at the sides were in totally the wrong place. Also, I originally made it to go over a bum roll, and want to wear it over hoops, so (once I'd bought the fabric at the garment district!) I started work on a white silk petticoat to wear with it. I started sewing it Monday evening, and finished it in the hotel lobby yesterday while we waited for our shuttle :)
I hardly took any photos at CosCol - my camera is rather useless and there were 2 cameras taking gorgeous pictures for me to steal from, so after the first day I didn't even take it out of my bag! Once more people have posted their photos I shall start stealing some to share with you all what I wore. I will be getting my camera out though, to show you what I bought at the garment district! let me just say, silvery grey silk satin features rather heavily ;)
