the weekend!

huzzah!! it's friday! aaand, monday is a bank holiday, so it's a 3 day weekend :D
i haven't quite finished the white dress, i need boning to make the belt (horrid plastic stuff, but it's only for school) so this morning i charged on with the first flapper dress, a cream day dress, made of lycra jersey for the bodice, for ease of making and comfort, and satin with a chiffon overlayer for the skirt and sleeves. the neckline band was a right pain in the but, i've made a V front and back, and for some reason the points just wouldn't work :( it was a bit of a mess in the end, even after spending about half an hour trying to make it work, so once it was finally firmly attached i gave up, and i'll stick a bow on to cover it up! plus no one will see anything on stage anyway, but i know it's there :)
we're going to see if we can get to any dog rescue places this weekend, we need someone to love, and he or she can teach the new puppy how to behave. i'm still going to get a puppy this summer, but clare wants her own doggy, so... puppy cuddles! (yes they are still puppy cuddles, even if said puppy is an 18 year old, blind and deaf old lady!!)

thankn you! you have a good weekend too. and i'm very excited about getting a dog, even if we don't find one this weekend, at least we get to play with some, which is the next best thing :)

A doggy really changes the household for the better. We have been without our two dogs since we left the US in January. :( But they are eligible to join us at the end of June so we don't have much longer to wait. The house is so empty without them.

What sort of dog are you looking for? Big, small? Or just one that strikes your fancy? How exciting!

a home is not a home without dog hairs on the carpet!
my favourite breed is cocker spaniel, and roly was such a love! but clare really wants a bigger dog. we met the most lovely greyhound whippet cross, called winnie, and fell in love! she can be re-homed from thursday, as the original owner has 7 days to change their mind, so we'll know on my birthday if we have a new doggy or not!

aren't they? i didn't realise till we met winnie that lurchers can be so sweet. i'd met 2 most adorable italian greyhounds last year, lovely dainty little things, and winnie is very much like them, except a lot bigger :) we're trying not to get our hopes up, in case the owner wants her back after all.
