last saturday's ball
Oct. 12th, 2008 10:56 pmonly a week late, i'm getting better!
i thought you might like to see what mummy's dress looked like all finished (well mostly!) so,
first some photos of our hair.
mummy said she didn't want to wear a turban, so i gave in, and just ended up 'burning off all her hair and filling her head with about a hundred pins, viciously'!! i've told her she's having a turban on saturday!

this photo shows a problem i had with her bodice, it closes with drawstrings, but when she leans forward they gape, and her petticoat shows. i think i'll put in some hooks and eyes, do you think one at each drawstring will do the trick?

now, you have to excuse the naked-ness of me under my stays, i didn't wear a shift because i'd be too hot, so i have a camisole on instead!

kendra's class was invaluable! but would you believe that ALL of the hair on my head is my own! i don't even have any rats in, cause i lost them :) and, i did it all by my self!! i'm so proud :) i thought when clare went away to uni i would never have good hair ever again, but i can manage after all!

the side rolls are my hair on my head too! (i did have to use lots and lots of very un-period correct hair gel to make it work though!)
then there is a video of mummy,
and a little bit of me, i wore my blue anglaise with the cream taffeta skirt from my pet en l'air, it was very good to dance in, the perfect skirt length.
tomorrow i hope i'll be able to post pics of MY regency stuff, my stays are nearly done! i have questions about my dress too, so get your brain meats ready!!

Date: 2008-10-12 10:26 pm (UTC)And one hook should be plenty. That's what I used on my blue and white dress. And my theory is that their dresses gapped to because there's no way the dress wouldn't slide open!

Date: 2008-10-12 11:09 pm (UTC)i comforted myself that they must have gapped too, but i think maybe they didn't gap quite as much as mummy's dress! i shall add a hook and eye to each drawstring then, thanks for the vote! (i knew you'd know what to do!)

Date: 2008-10-13 10:17 pm (UTC)the blue is normally worn with a white muslin petticoat, but it's too long and floaty to dance well in.
