cycling outfit

i've decided i can't possibly wear the plaid dress in august, goodness knows what i was thinking! i will save it for the winter, i don't think i'm dreaming when i think there's a dickens fair in a nearby town in december, i do hope so! any way, i have decided to wear the cycling outfit instead, (if we ever actually get to the victorian festival!) i made it at college, as part of my final project, for my friend who is almost the same size as me! she was a little bit 'fatter' than me, and her wrists were a lot wider than mine, so the corset is a bit loose at the bust, while being a bit tight over the ribs, and the shirt and jacket sleeves need the buttons mooving over, but that is very doable!!

sorry for the excessive nuber of photos, but i know i love seeing exactly what goes on under the things you all make, so i though you might be interested too! the suit is made of a linen/wool and i think silk mix, so it creases like anything! the jacket is meant to be cut away, and the waistcoat is boned. the corset is a special sports corset, i had a few descriptions and a tiny drawing to work from, it is only lightly boned (i used rigeline folded in half and zigzagged to replicate the thin whalebones they would have used) and has laced gussets on the hips, the first pic of the corset shows the laces undone for 'active sport' (horseriding and cycling, where you have to be able to sit down properly!) and the second they are done up, no doubt for playing tennis etc! i made the hat from straw braid, and tried the hairstyle using these directions as a guide http://intimelyfashion.com/index2.html my hair was wet so it didn't work very well! i'm going to get a pair of 2 tone brown and cream high button boots to wear instead of the flip flops!!
i've also decided not to faff around waiting for inspiration for the ball gown, and make a start on my regency instead, yay!!
oh, and that's my baby piglet!
