I had a fitting today and we took some photos :) They're
A photo with the lace pelerine, I can't decide if I should leave it as a collar (the ends at the front will tuck into a ribbon belt) or make it into a tucker?
Photobucket

The front without the pelerine, I love the sleeves, such a lovely puff :o) Also the skirt is just pinned on over the waistband.

Because the waistband isn't finished the back doesn't have the drawstring so it's overlapped a lot at the waist which is causing the bunching.

I'm halfway through sewing the cotton tape to the inside of the waistband, hopefully I'll get it done before we go to dancing, and now I've had the fitting I can do lots at work tomorrow. I have to be in till 9 or so, so I'll have lots of time to kill!!

That is really gorgeous. Such a lovely period silhouette! How did you do the sleeves to get that look?

Thank you!!
For the sleeves, I used the undersleevs from the 1827-29 dress in patterns of fashion, the one with long gauze oversleeves, on page 57. I flat lined the taffeta with cotton organdy to help them hold their shape.

Gorgeous ! I vote for making the lace pelerine a tucker - although it's so pretty, it's almost a shame to hide it. But then, the rouleaux are pretty too, and I think they deserve to be seen.

Thank you!
I think I didn't express myself properly, if I make the lace into a tucker, it will still be over the bodice, but it'll be sewn as a collar onto a little net half bodice that goes under my dress.
I'm glad you like the rouleaux, maybe I shouldn't hide them, since they took so long to do ;)

So pretty!

And I don't think you should hide the rouleaux, although it is very pretty on the outside.

Thank you!!
I meant to say, put the lace as a collar onto a net tucker, so the lace would still be on top of the dress. Maybe if I leave it as a separate pelerine I could wear it to go to the dance, but take it off when we start to dance? Obviously I couldn't do that if it's on a tucker!!
The trouble is it's an afternoon dance, and I want this to look like an afternoon dress - I'm going to have long net undersleeves as well. maybe I should just make a net tucker with a frilled neck and use the lace for a different dress?

I think the pelerine is very pretty... but I think you should save it for another outfit. This one doesn't need it. The rouleaux is so pretty and flattering on you that it should be seen.
