having dressed meg up in all of my 1860s undies, and draped the fabric, and bought more fabric to make an overdress, i have now decided that i shouldn't start on my ball gown until i have at least a toile for the bride to try on this weekend, (the wedding is in 8 weeks) we're going shopping for fabric on saturday, so i think it wold be great if we combine it with the first fitting too. she came round last night with a sari she had bought, either for her dress or to make something else from, and i got all goosepimply at the thought of making it up! i had been really worried about the skirt, as i had no idea what we were going to do, she wants floaty but plain and slimming, and she wants navy blue. she has a lovely deep red velvet cloak/coat to wear over it, but i thought that it was going to look really odd...untill she arrived with a navy sari embroidered in silver with sequins, and it looked lovely, she wants the corset to be more embroidered than the skirt, and the end of the sari with the extra decoration as the centre fron t 'panel' on the skirt. now we need to find either a heavily embroidered sari with a nice length for the skirt, or a seperate heavily embroidered something for the corset and use the existing sari for the skirt. living in leicester, or little india as some people call it, we will be totally spoilt for choice!
