I've been a busy little bee today, so now I'm resting, drinking tea, eating biscuits and posting photos from the trip after the Bath ball. We had a lovely time, the weather was perfect, not too hot, and it only started to rain once we'd gone into the house, and stopped again before we went outside again! Any way,

In the shuttle bus on our way down to the house, I couldn't resist the chance for a silly incongruous photo!

On our way back to the cars to go home again, this is only half of our party :)

I took the chance, while we waited for the others, to get some photos of my new dress without spencer and bonnet to get in the way:

I've already started work on the ludicrously frilly chemisette to add even more sillyness :)

And a shot of Mummy without her hat, gazing into the distance :)

My kirtle is all ready for handsewing in Scotland, and I made a mocup of Mummy's, and we did a fitting, but it's not working too well at the moment, she's not very comfortable at all ... I'm going to change to a back opening, and try a curved centre front seam, and try putting more boning in for the fitting and see if that works any better, but not now! Now I'm going to play! I've pulled out my fabrics, found my inspiration pics and now I'm going to work out a pattern ready to start work on a new Regency bonnet, or maybe it'll end up a hat ... who knows :D

That is such a pretty dress! I've wanted to make something nice and cozy but pretty, and this is a perfect example. Where on earth did you find wool in that color?

You should absolutely make a warm Regency dress! They're far too under-represented, and soo comfy! I think this one will be getting a lot of wear, I do live in England ;)
I have no idea where the wool came from, I found it at school when I was moving workrooms and had to empty all the shelves of fabric! It may have been bought by my predecessor, or donated by a parent, I figured I'm never going to use it for something at school, so I may as well rescue it :)
It's a lovely fine plain weave wool, very soft and drapey. I think any tropical weight wool would work as well, and every now and then some pretty colours do pop up!

Yay, me for a cozy dress! And here I'm living in Texas, where we've been in the 80s for weeks, but hey - it DOES get cold and I'm fully acclimatized. ;)

Wow, that's a stroke of luck! I will definitely keep an eye out for tropical in pretty colors. I love Katherine's yellow 1860s with tropical, but I've got lots of fabric for 1860s; definitely time for Regency.

I love the new dress! It's so frilly and fun! Plus it has that "right" look, you know, when it stops looking like a costume and just looks like clothes. Great job!

You look beautiful! That is a gorgeous new dress. So perfect. And I love it paired with the chocolate spencer. It's like a truffle!

So pretty, and I'll bet cosy. I love your mum's pelisse too. I'm being bombarded by Regency from everywhere, and want to do something but must stay in the Edwardian era at the moment.

I love the colour. I hope you don't mind me friending you. I've found myself checking my friend's f-list to read your entries.
