the puppy is so much better today, you would never know he had an opp yesterday! we've been playing his favourite game of tug of war, and his favourite toy du jour? a pair of horrid old socks knotted together!

he doesn't look like he listened to the vet telling him he'd feel bad for a few days!
i didn't have the brain power to work on anything complicated yesterday, so i cut out the fabric for a new handbag, i found the fabric in granny's linen press, it's welsh tweed and probably from the 70s! you may recognise the handle, form the pink bag, it's removable, so i can make as many bags as i like, and chop and change depending on what i'm wearing!

the lining is from an old pair of my mum's PJs that were ripped in the shoulder, i used the 2 sleeves, and one of the legs was used for the lining for a bag i made for my aunt.

i stole the zip from the same bag as the last one, and it still has 2 left plus a buckle, a very useful broken old bag! i put the opening for the pocket a bit too far down, i wanted to stay away from the pleating at the top as i thought it would make it harder to get into the pocket, but i think i over compensated.
the 'flower' is made from a scrap of really heavy velvet i had in my stash, i think it's curtain if not upholstery weight. there was only just enough! it's a stip folded in half and gathered along the raw edges.

the buttons came from granny's button box, and i had the beads lying around, so it's another stash bag! i was going to make the flower like a corsage, sewed together then put on a pin so it's removable, but i made the bag this morning and was in a rush to get it done to take it out for my lunch meeting, so it's all sewn onto the bag, but hand sewn so i can remove it if i get bored!
i had to empty it to take pics so i thought you'd like to see what was in it!

there was still room for lots more, it's deceptively small! it's the same pattern as the pink one, but i didn't mark on the pattern where i put the pleats in the corners of the pink one, so this one's pleats aren't deep enough, i don't like the shape as much, but it's ok, next one will be perfect!!
i really need to get on tomorrow, lots of junk to get rid of and rooms to tidy. i also MUST get on with the bride's second mockup. knowing me though i'll start yet another bag and make some chocolate chip cookies!! :p
