Fancy work is fun!

Being between projects can be frustrating when I suddenly realise I'm working in the shop and don't have any hand sewing. On the other hand, it's also the perfect time for trying something totally different! In this case, a braid work tea cosy :)

I'm half way through the Central motif, and I only stated this morning! The original I'm copying has a fancy pattern round the curved top edge too, but I don't have enough braid left, so I'm going to have a hunt for some other 1860s boarder patterns to see if there's a simpler one I can use instead.

Isn't that kind of work FUN?! I had a ball doing a smoking cap for Mike a couple years ago...it went so fast, and was so easy to see progress. I really like the design you've picked, too. You may already be aware of this, but archive.org has (I believe) a full edition of 1864 Godey's available online. I have a print copy and IIRC there are a few motifs in there, of varying intricacy.
