granny's funeral was everything we wanted it to be, a lovely tribute to a lovely woman. it was the perfect way for us all to say goodbye, the service itself was a nice mixture of sad and funny, just what granny would have wanted, and she would have loved the bad out of tune singing :)
the 'knees up' we had afterwards was lovely, granny would have been in her element, at any family party she was always in the thick of things, holding court in the sun, never on her own and everyone would make a point to go and sit with her, and most importantly her plate was never empty!! i think we all felt granny was there with us, and i'm sure at any future family event - weddings and christentings and birthdays, we will all feel like she is still there.
instead of having a memory album i decided granny needed something we would all remember, not a book kept on a shelf or in a cupboard, so i thought i would make a memory quilt, and cut out lots of squares of white cotton, and had everyone sign them, with little messages and things, some of them sombre but most silly or cheeky, exactly what granny would have loved! i'm going to love making it for her!
we were all too tired to go home today, so we're going to go home tomorrow
