sorry i didn't manage to get photos of the tops i made, but we left earlier than i expected on tuesday. we've had a trying time of it, clearing out granny's little flat, but it has had its compensations, namely finding all of the wonderful old family pictures and photographs!
prepare to wait a while for all the pics to load, i've made them smallish, but there are lots of them!
just to whet your appetite!

all of the tintypes or daguerreotypes were in a box under the dressing table, and i thought they had been lost, my great grandmother had labelled them, so it's all very exciting!
the oldest is my great great great great grandmother! great granny didn't label it but my granny did

her son,james hunt

his wife katherine (nee wainright), and children, alice adelaide and james william (james william is great granny's father)

there are lots more, as you can tell from the first photo, 2 of james hunt in the oval case, one of a younger katherine, james william aged 3, and as a young man and as a boy, alice adelaide as a very little girl, a little girl and a bigger girl! and another katherine hunt who became a ridley.

what makes things even more exciting will be divulged in my next post!

It works. And they're great. I love old photos, especially if they're identified. Even better when the identity is more than just a name, but is still connected today :)

i thought you'd like them. i think the best bit is that i know who they are, and have things that belonged to them, their wedding spoon and salt cellers and cutlery and things, and a sampler that belonged to one of their ancestors. katherine wainright must have thought of her sampler, 50 years older than her, in the same way i look at some of the things i have. it's all so fascinating. my aunt and a cousin have been making the family tree, so i will see if i can get a copy of it to try and place people.
