i got my sew-jo back!!
today at the primary school i volunteer at they were telling the little ones about the victorians, mostly about their sea bathing. i told them about my dresses, and i'm going in in a fortnight to do a little show and tell :) this means i have to make some drawers, at long last, so..... here they are!!
pretty!

the shoes are a bit hard to see on the white sox, but they're sooo cute :)

i'm also going to make a bathing dress! i've always wanted to, but never had a good reason, so now i do, here i go!! i'm going into town tomorrow, so i'll look for pretty wool, red or blue, or maybe white :) if i don't find any it's not meant to be i guess. but i'm going to make the striped sheer dress any way!!! YAY!

Very cute!

I love Victorian bathing dresses. I have one in blue linen. I found a few references to linen bathing costume, so when I could only found the color I wanted in linen, I decided to go with it. Can't wait to see yours :)

thank you!
ah, very good to know, i'd seen the references to linen, but from my experience it's a total PITA, and creases soooo badly, but if it worked out for you it's worth remembering as a backup :)

Fortunately the linen I made the suit with was a fairly cooperative one. It was nice to have a backup though, because I just wasn't finding wool, and really, since I had to get it online I wasn't in the mood to find the right type of wool. Here's a picture of me with a few others in our suits at Costume Con two years ago. It was fun :)
