plugging away at the never ending dress.
Apr. 4th, 2009 01:05 pmwell, mummy's sleeves are done and looking lovely, she's very pleased :) and the skirt is attached to the bodice (ahem, pinned, i know, lazy girl!) AND all the eyelets are done!!!!!!
but now i'm working on the bertha. and boy is it a pain!!! i spent all of last night pleating the veiling onto the net base, now the last bits are sewn down and i'm easing some lace onto the 'hem' and sewing it down with narrow black velvet ribbon. why?!? what's wrong with me, i could just sew the lace on, but no, i have to do the fiddly extras :) then i'm going to bind the top in black silk satin ribbon (that i've got two lots of 10 yards of!) just because i think it might not look quite as smart as it could!
i'm determined to finish this bloody dress today, if i don't i think i might scream!!!!!!!
(oh, i have to make a tucker too, i never made any for our other ball gowns. at least i have some yummy scrummy silk veiling to make it from, i love my sister!!)
