museums in NY

i want to see costumes! where do i go!
am i wrong in remembering the metropolitan museum of art? is it like the V and A? with all sorts of decorative arts from all over, so that clare and mummy will not be too bored?
any where really good and not too expensive to eat in the garment district?
so very excited now!!!
also, what IS the rockefeller centre?!
ETA, wow, i should have written down what lara told me, she answered all my questions then i think! but any good places to eat you can throw at me ...!?

Rockefeller center is a few buildings near touristy shopping, Radio City Music Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral. It is best known for the plaza with the ice rink where the big christmas tree is every year. If you like ice skating it is a fun thing to do and the rink is now open. http://rapatina.com/iceRink/
